USA Rugby Statement on the 2015 Emirates Airline Men's Division I Club National Championship

BOULDER, Colo. – Due to several unfortunate weather delays, the 2015 USA Rugby Emirates Airline Men’s Division I Club National Championship was not able to broadcast as originally scheduled.

Team travel concerns and facility availability necessitated a decision between USA Rugby, Infinity Park, the Austin Blacks, and the New York Athletic Club. With inclement weather threatening the prospect of the match being played at all, it was agreed that the Men’s Division I final would kickoff at Infinity Park South simultaneously with the resumption of the Women’s Division I Championship match inside the Infinity Park Stadium. The facility, the clubs, and match organizers recognized that a failure to complete the match by 10:30 pm Mountain would result in both teams being unable to participate due to flights the following morning. It was agreed by representatives from both clubs that the match would be played entirely at Infinity Park South, with the hope that at least 60 minutes could be completed before the 10:30 drop time. With numerous lightning delays throughout the evening, all representatives present were not comfortable waiting for the women’s match to conclude. At that time, it was also agreed that both clubs wished to have the match played entirely on one pitch, with no movement between fields when the women’s game concluded.

In an effort to cover the match as much as possible, USA Rugby was able to live tweet the full 80 minute match. USA Rugby apologizes for the inconvenience to those who wished to watch the broadcast of the 2015 USA Rugby Emirates Airline Men’s Division I Club National Championship.
