NDS Registration for You; the Gift of Rugby for Them
“Give the Gift of Rugby” is a special initiative associated with the USA Rugby National Development Summit (NDS). It works like this: for every individual that registers for this year’s National Development Summit from December 12- 24th, 2018, USA Rugby will donate one Rookie Rugby ball to a local youth rugby organization in the host city’s area.
This year USA Rugby is partnering with Brazoria Spartans Youth Rugby in Alvin, TX. This club serves Kindergarten through High School students in Alvin, TX and surrounding communities.
With this donation, Brazoria Spartans Youth Rugby will be able to provide sized appropriate rugby balls for students benefiting from their program. Joe Olivas, Club President / Coach of Brazoria Spartans Youth Rugby, explained how the club started with a handful of sponsors which helped to get just enough jerseys and a couple of rugby balls for the kids.
“We had enough players to put a 7th/8th-grade boys 10’s team together. We would go to a local park and practice once a week. All my boys instantly fell in love with the sport and have all returned this season” Olivas said.
With that excitement, the coach immediately saw growth in interested students. This year Olivas will have a K-2nd non-contact, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, 7th/8th boys, 7th/8th girls, and a high school boys team. Making the need for training equipment like rugby balls even greater.
To assist with this growing need, USA Rugby encourages you and your friends to register for this year’s summit from now to December 24th, 2018. Together we can give the gift of rugby to children in the surrounding Houston area – providing even more youth with the opportunity to fall in love with the sport.
USA Rugby’s National Development Summit is your opportunity to partake in technical workshops led by the country’s top experts. You’ll hear current insight on topics related to topics in coaching, refereeing, and administration. Register for the summit from December 12- 24th, 2018 and USA Rugby will donate one Rookie Rugby ball to the Brazoria Spartans Youth Rugby.
