Atlantic North Recap: Ties Run Rampant Through Competition

Women’s Division I

In the lone matchup of this weekend, Raleigh and Northern Virginia squared off in a very highly contested matchup.  While it was Raleigh leading the charge in the first half with a 20-5 lead, Norther Virginia came rallying back in the second half.  They came up just short, however, as Raleigh was able to secure the victory, 25-20. 

There are two matches next week in the women’s division I bracket.  Boston will take on Albany, and Northern Virginia will play again against Philadelphia. 

Men’s Division II

Going to start things off with a bang in the Empire Men’s New Jersey division.  The Union County Mudturtles won decisively 101-0 against Princeton Athletic.  In a much closer affair, the Bayonne Bombers narrowly defeated Monmouth 31-24.  For the final math in this division, Monmouth defeated Morris, 35-14. 

Jumping to the New York City division, New Haven defeated the Village Lions 46-26.  New York Rugby defeated White Plains 46-22.  Lastly, Old Blue and Lansdowne couldn’t have been more evenly matched as they ended in a tie, 17-17. 

Moving over to the Great Lakes division.  Buffalo squeezed out a close one against the Cleveland Crusaders, 18-14.  Pittsburgh Forge hung up a lot of points against Rochester in a victory, 67-36. 

In the New England division, Newport defeated Worcester 30-19.  Boston defeated Amoskeag 33-14.  Mystic cruised to a 45-10 victory over South Shore.  The Boston Irish Wolfhounds traveled up to Albany and won marginally, 29-8.  Lastly, Portland defeated Hartford, 14-7. 

Women’s Division II

In the Empire division, New Haven took on Danbury and ended in a tie 24-24.  Fairfield downed Long Island 58-17.  Morris downed Monmouth 41-19.  In a large victory for Rochester, they won 90-0 against the Ithaca Avengers. 

In the New England division, Portland defeated Burlington 38-12.  Worcester downed the Charles River Rats 52-0. Providence sizably defeated Amoskeag 52-0.

Men’s Division III

In the New Jersey/Long Island division, Suffolk defeated North Jersey 62-19.  Long Island won big, 112-7 over Morris. 

Jumping to the New York City division, Brooklyn defeated Old Maroon 76-0.  

In the New York/Connecticut division, Saratoga defeated White Plains 40-21.   

Moving over to the Upstate division, Southtown defeated South Buffalo 74-19. Ken-ton downed Rochester 24-5. 

Last but not least, the New England division. Charles River Rats won 48-28 over Burlington.  Boston Maccabi defeated Freedom 54-7. Providence defeated Upper Valley 44-14.  Old Gold squeezed out a close one against New London 47-42.  North Shore came down to the wire against Springfield 33-31 North shore.
