Women’s Division I:
The Utah Vipers welcomed the Glendale Merlins into town over the weekend, and sent them back with an emphatic, 53-27, loss. Shannon Woolley was the catalyst for the Vipers’ big win, scoring 18 points, including two tries. Glendale now moves to 1-1, while the Vipers enjoy a 1-0 record.
Men’s Division II:
In a battle for Kansas City the Blues D2 squad took on Kansas City Rugby. It was all one way traffic as the Blues fell behind early and were left to play catchup. Kansas City booking their first win of the season, 52-27.
In the opening fixture of the Mid-America South competition, the Little Rock Stormers came roaring back into Division II Rugby, beating their historic rival, Tulsa Rugby, 78-14.
Rocky Mountain Premiership:
The Denver Barbarians rebounded nicely, after being upset by Boulder Rugby last weekend, to dominate their cross town rivals, the Denver Harlequins, 90-14. The star performer for the Barbarians was hooker Eric Bloedorn, who found himself crossing the line on five separate occasions. In the other match, Boulder Rugby couldn’t rekindle last round’s magic and fell to the Denver Highlanders, 27-21.
Men’s Division III:
Rocky Mountain Championship:
The Norther Colorado Flamingos continued on their quest for a perfect season by taking apart the Littleton Eagles this weekend, 60-32. Inside center Bryan Schroeder was the standout performer contributing 20 points to his team’s tally. In the other game the Laramie Lumberjacks proved to be too strong for the Colorado Springs Grizzlies, 51-31.
Men’s Division IV:
The Denver Barbarians doubled up on their efforts against the Denver Harlequins, when their two D4 sides squared off. This affair was closer, but still one way traffic. The Barbarians on the back of a two try effort from Christopher Kenson won, 43-7.
