Important Update: Is my Practice, Scrimmage, Match or Tournament Covered by USA Rugby Insurance?

USA Rugby has clarified the participation opportunities that are covered by insurance. Protection to our athletes and administrators is our first priority and insurance is key to that protection. Leagues, Events, Teams, Coaches, and Administrators need to understand the steps required to ensure you and your team are protected. Matches played without these items in place may be forfeited and insurance coverage may not be valid. An insured event can be a league match, a friendly match, a qualifying match and a local/national tournament.

To achieve insured status, all participating clubs must be confirmed compliant in advance of the event.

Compliance is achieved when:

  1. A club/team has registered for the current membership cycle and paid its $160 club registration fee. If a club/team has not paid this fee, it is not compliant.
  2. Has a minimum of one Current Level 200 Coach (for contact competition) and a Current Level 100 (for non-contact competition) on the club roster.
  3. Has met the roster minimum for competition. A minimum of 9 players for sevens competition and 15 players for fifteens competition. All players participating must be registered. If a team shows up with 20 players but only 15 on the roster, that team is not compliant.
