Rugby Executives Leadership Conference in San Diego June 30

LAFAYETTE, Colo. – The first Rugby Business Executives Association (RBEA) Leadership Conference has been scheduled for the Rugby World Cup 2019 Qualifier weekend in San Diego, Calif., to be held at Marriott Mission Valley Friday, June 30.

The purpose of the conference is to connect senior executives having a passion for rugby for networking, sharing knowledge, and the promotion of the sport in key regional markets. More than 600 professionals have already pledged their support to RBEA prior to this ‘launch’ event, which precedes U.S. Rugby Foundation’s Hall of Fame Induction Dinner and Saturday’s international test match in San Diego.

The one-day Leadership Conference will feature the William Webb Ellis Rugby World Cup Trophy, panel discussions with participants including USA Rugby Chief Executive Officer Dan Payne, Rugby International Marketing CEO David Sternberg, USA Rugby Board Chairman Will Chang, and Board Director Chad Keck and other executives and influencers. RBEA members will also have the opportunity to join Theme Teams. Organized around the Strategy 2020 themes of Financial; Growth and Development; Leadership; Recruit, Retain, and Transition; and High Performance, the Theme Teams are tasked with supporting the execution of Strategy 2020 in regional markets.

“Perhaps U.S. rugby’s greatest and most underutilized asset is our professional community,” Strategy 2020 Facilitator George Henderson stated. “The Rugby Business Executives Association exists to turn this resource into a source of competitive advantage. Officially launching with this summit in San Diego, RBEA already has more than 600 members, and may be one of the few professional associations you will ever need.”

Additional objectives of the first Leadership Conference include creating a blueprint for major market development, updating RBEA members on Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018 as they relate to organization and sponsorship, and detailing the execution roadmap for RBEA.

Registrants will receive a complimentary continental breakfast prior to the 9 a.m. PT start time and a working lunch buffet at Marriott Mission Valley Friday in addition to admittance to the pre-U.S. Rugby Foundation Hall of Fame Induction Dinner Guest Reception. Conference registration is $295, with a bundle registration including a seat at the Induction Dinner available for $475.

The USA Men’s National Team seeks qualification to Rugby World Cup 2019 this summer, and finishes a two-match aggregate series with Canada at University of San Diego’s Torero Stadium Saturday, July 1. RBEA members have the opportunity to secure tickets in an RBEA-specific section for just $58.

ABOUT Rugby Business Executives Association

RBEA is a themed community intended to engage rugby professionals to drive Strategy 2020 forward in a self-funding way, while also creating a forum for members to build business relationships. RBEA is formed in collaboration with USA Rugby but does not accept funding from the National Office.

The mission of RBEA is to connect senior executives who exemplify rugby’s traditions of courage, commitment, and passion. We offer a forum for them to renew their love of the game, network and share knowledge, promote and professionalize the sport and get involved locally to build robust regional rugby communities in support of USA Rugby’s Strategy 2020 and the mission of our national governing body.
