USA Rugby Trust Executive Director Resigns After Five-Year Tenure

LAFAYETTE, Colo. – USA Rugby Trust’s Board of Directors announced today that Nikki Wiederaenders, Executive Director of USA Rugby Trust for the past five years, has resigned from her position effective March 3, 2017.

The Board of Directors expresses their sincerest gratitude for Wiederaenders’ commitment and service to the growth and development of rugby in the United States. Wiederaenders has served as Executive Director of USA Rugby Trust since its launch in 2012. Under Wiederaenders’ leadership the Trust has grown from a fledgling organization to raising more than $1.2 million in 2016, donating items to more than 200 nonprofit organizations to assist in their fundraising activities, and establishing the Eagle Alumni Network – a group designed to bring together former National Team players and staff to help them reengage with one another and the greater rugby community.

“We are grateful for the impressive work Nikki has accomplished as a leader of USA Rugby Trust. The organization has a bright future ahead because of the strong foundation she has built for the organization,” said President of the USA Rugby Trust Board of Directors May Harris.

“It has been quite a journey serving as Executive Director of USA Rugby Trust,” said Wiederaenders. “I am incredibly honored to have played a part in the growth of rugby in America, a game that’s future is very bright indeed. This departure comes with fortuitous timing for me, the sport and the Trust; timing is excellent for someone who can come in with a fresh set of eyes and new ideas to take USA Rugby Trust to the next level. I am excited to see where the next five years take USA Rugby Trust.”

The USA Rugby Trust Board of Directors will vet and evaluate candidates to fill the Executive Director role quickly and responsibly. Until a permanent Executive Director has been hired, USA Rugby Trust Major Gifts Officer Chris Reed will fill this role during the interim period.

Further information about the transition process will be announced as details become available.
