Attend a National Tracking Camp, earn a contract at the Olympic Training Center

LAFAYETTE, Colo. – A National Tracking Camp will be held at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., Sunday, Aug. 28, for women interested in being considered for a residency contract this fall.

Open to all athletes with rugby-playing experience and to elite-level crossover athletes, the National Tracking Camp will be limited to 40 participants. Just three weeks from the medal ceremony of the first Rugby Sevens competition at the Rio 2016 Olympic Summer Games and two weeks from the culmination of the 2016 USA Rugby Club 7s National Championships, athletes should be prepared to impress national team and Team USA staff in all facets of the game and demeanor.

“This is an opportunity for rugby players that want to put their hands up,” Women’s Eagles Sevens and Rio 2016 Team USA Women’s Rugby Sevens Head Coach Richie Walker said. “It is also a chance for crossover athletes that want to give rugby a try.

“Rugby in the Olympics in Rio is the start of a new era, and we are now looking to identify additional athletes for Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018 in San Francisco and the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.”

All submissions for attendance at the National Tracking Camp will be reviewed prior to athletes receiving confirmation they were accepted or otherwise. Accepted athletes will be charged a one-time fee of $100, and will receive complimentary lunch and airport transportation to and from the Olympic Training Center with registration. The deadline to apply for the Aug. 28 National Tracking Camp is Saturday, Aug. 13, with the application available here.
