The USA Rugby Men’s Eagles will be taking thousands of supporters with them onto the pitch this fall at the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England. Fans now have the opportunity to support the Eagles with the purchase of a spot on a player’s number to place his/her photo for the entirety of the Rugby World Cup. Each player’s jersey number will be a mosaic of supporters’ uploaded photos.
Fans who purchase a spot on the uniform numbers will also have the opportunity to purchase a limited edition 2015 USA Rugby World Cup Jersey with his/her number that contains the uploaded photo.
“When we depart America for England, the Eagles will feel an immense sense of support with our supporters fully behind us,” Men’s National Team Head Coach Mike Tolkin said. “Knowing that we always receive tremendous support from our fans across the country, we look forward to having an up-close reminder of all the people we are playing for back home. I think it is also exciting and special to have your picture on the number of your favorite Eagle player, knowing that you are supporting his and the Eagles’ World Cup efforts.”
Fans will be able to select the number (1-23) and the location within that number to upload his/her picture in the same manner in which a person would pick seats on an airline flight. Supporters can purchase a spot on a number via usarugby.bmyteam.com. Half of the amount spent to place a photo on the number is a tax-deductible donation to USA Rugby Trust.
“This is a really unique opportunity for USA Rugby’s supporters to participate in something that has never been done before in the World Cup,” USA Rugby Trust Executive Director Nikki Wiederaenders said. “Not only will they forever leave their stamp on the players’ jerseys, but all proceeds from the sales of the numbers and jerseys will directly support our Men’s National Team as they train for the World Cup.”
USA Rugby Trust is the philanthropic arm of USA Rugby. All funds raised by the sale of photo spots and jerseys will go to support the USA Rugby Men’s Eagles.
